How are you connecting?

How often do you look at your phone a day?  Do you look at your phone instead of talking to the person next to you?

Last night I was at dinner with friends and we were sitting and chatting when I glanced around the restaurant.  I became focused on this mom and daughter eating across the room from us. What had caught my attention was that the daughter had her headphones on and was staring at her phone and her mom was on a phone call.  They weren't looking at each other or even talking to one another.  They were both eating but not once did they glance at each other. They weren't connecting at all.

Have you found yourself in the same situation?  When the people you are with are focused on their phone and not you?  Or are you the one who tends to be on your phone instead of talking to the people you are with?

Technology has made our lives so much easier in so many ways.  But at the same time, do you ever feel that we are a little more disconnected to the people closest to us now? Does it ever occur to you that you're staring at your phone looking at your social media feeds instead of talking to the person next to you?

We're so busy trying to capture the moment or finding out what's going on in the lives of other people, we may not realize that we're missing out on what's happening right in front of us.  How we're actually disconnecting instead of connecting.

So here's a challenge for you: when you go out with friends or family or coworkers, instead of pulling out your phone the minute you sit down, put your phone away and just talk to the people with you.  Connect.  Share with us below how it goes!
